Tallow balm is often introduced as a facial product, but its most straightforward uses are on the body. Hands, elbows, knees, and heels experience repeated washing, pressure, and friction, making them ideal areas for a rich, targeted moisturizer.
For hands, apply a pea-sized amount after washing. Work it into the backs of the hands, knuckles, and cuticles. Use less on the palms if you need to return to a keyboard or phone quickly.
For elbows and knees, apply after showering while the skin is still slightly damp. Warm the balm first, then massage in a thin layer. Repeated use is more effective than an occasional thick coating.
For heels, use balm at night. Apply to clean, dry-to-damp skin and put on soft cotton socks if desired. Do not apply between the toes, where excess moisture can create an uncomfortable environment.
For lips, only use a formula intended for lip application. A balm can reduce the feeling of dryness, but avoid licking or picking at flaky skin.
For cuticles, press a tiny amount around the nail line and massage for a few seconds. This is easiest to remember when the jar is kept near the sink or bed.
Deep cracks, bleeding, severe pain, persistent rash, or signs of infection should be assessed by a medical professional. A cosmetic balm supports comfort but does not replace treatment.
Head-to-toe use is where a multipurpose balm becomes genuinely practical. One formula, applied differently to each area, can simplify the routine without pretending every part of the body has the same needs.
